Camfed website launched December 7th, 2009

Camfed is an award-winning charity that fights poverty and HIV/AIDS in Africa by educating girls and empowering women to become leaders of change. Their website has recently been redeveloped by CottonRendle to provide a much more interactive and engaging experience for their constituents. You can see the new website here:

Etianen.com was involved in several aspects of this redevelopment. In order to provide localisation of the website content for UK and US constituents, a high-performance geotargetting system was developed in order to route visitors to the appropriate country-specific subdomain. This utilises a memory-resident IP database available from MaxMind.

A more substantial development was the creation of a series of interactive maps, designed to show the wide-ranging effects of Camfed’s activities in Africa. These were built using the Google Maps platform, backed by a highly-optimised database of case studies and appeals developed by Etianen.com. You can view these maps online at the following URLs:

The new Camfed website has already attracted a great deal of praise and recognition in the non-profit sector. It is the most high-profile project we have so far contributed to, and we are extremely proud of the results.
